Each year the team is allowed to submit up to two students in grades 10 or 11 for the Dean’s List award. This award, as described by FIRST, is to recognize current student leaders who have led their teams and communities to increased awareness for FIRST and its mission while achieving personal technical expertise and accomplishment. It is the goal of FIRST that all Dean’s List Semi-Finalists, Finalists, and Winners will continue on, post award, as great leaders of the ever growing FIRST student alumni.
The criteria for this award includes, but is not limited to a student’s:
-Demonstrated leadership and commitment to the FIRST Core Values
-Effectiveness at increasing awareness of FIRST in the school and community
-Interest in and passion for a long-term commitment to FIRST
-Overall individual contribution to their team
-Technical expertise and passion
-Entrepreneurship and creativity
-Ability to motivate and lead fellow team members
By being nominated from our team, they hold the title of Dean’s List Semi-Finalist. At each district event, two students will be chosen to move on to the State Championship. Of those eight, two will become Finalists and move on to compete at the FIRST Championship in Houston, where ten students world wide will earn the honor of being a Dean’s List Winner.
This year, the team chose to honor two such individuals: Junior, Aaron S., and Sophomore, Connor M.
They will compete at the Princeton District Event to move on to the State Championship.
The team considers these two students to be an integral part of the team and their leadership will continue to take the team to great places.
